This crucial examination, known as specular microscopy, plays a vital role in various procedures, including the placement of phakic lenses for individuals with high myopia or keratoconus, as well as providing support in cataract surgery. By utilizing a laser beam, this examination scans the innermost posterior surface of the cornea, enabling the measurement and analysis of the number, size, and shape of the corneal cells.

The specular microscopy examination is the only analysis available for assessing corneal vitality and allows for determining and calculating the cornea's survival time without damaging its structure. The examination is performed with the Iconon Microscope Specular.

Recommendations: No dilation is required.
