- If the surgery is for the upper eyelids, the specialist makes an incision along the eyelid crease. They remove excess skin, muscle, and fat, and then close the incision.
- For the lower eyelid, the specialist cuts just below the eyelashes in the natural crease of the eye or inside the lower eyelid. They remove or redistribute excess fat, muscle, and loose skin, and then close the incision.
- If the upper eyelid droops close to the pupil, the specialist may perform a combined blepharoplasty with ptosis correction. Ptosis correction lifts the eyelid and removes excess skin.
