Phakic lens implantation

A phakic lens is designed to be implanted behind the iris and in front of the natural lens (similar to a contact lens). It is considered an ideal eye surgery for patients with high degrees of myopia and hyperopia, with or without astigmatism, and unstable corneas.

  • A larger incision is made, necessitating multiple sutures for proper closure.
  • An intraocular lens (IOL) is then implanted to restore and correct the patient's vision.
